I’m goin’ to New York City…

Members and associates of the Algonquin Round Table: (l-r) Art Samuels, Charles MacArthur, Harpo Marx, Dorothy Parker and Alexander Woollcott (not pictured: anyone alive in this century, including me).

For some reason, when I say that, in my head it’s to the tune of an old blues riff about “I’m goin’ to Kansas City” (first sung in my presence by a homeless drunk in Omaha, Nebraska).

However…my publishers, Liberty Island Media, are having a launch party and I’m going to drop in on them.  It will give me a chance to meet at last and in the actual flesh, the publisher, David Bernstein, and the Editor, Adam Bellow.  Rich Lowry, editor of the National Review and blurber of my novel, will also be in attendance.  I am hoping that my comrades de satire, the mysterious and alluring Ms. Always Right and Scary Smart Jamie K. Wilson will be able make it, as well  (Igor is indisposed, sadly).

With any luck, I’ll sneak out with my peeps (the above-mentioned David, Adam, and the Riot Guuurlz) to the Algonquin Hotel, and we’ll hoist a cocktail with humble respect for the titans who have proceeded us.

Then we’ll get back to work, doing our best to tell stories that change peoples’ lives in a positive, meaningful way.

Nearly done with the first draft of LG2…maybe 60 pages to go.  Then it will be time to work on By the Hands of Men.

Take care and when you can, choose to be kind.

Thanks, Carinda! (for those who don’t know, Carinda was one of my early readers and editors. She’s a babe!)
