“Why Trump?”

Why Trump?

This seems to be the question a lot of perplexed Europeans are asking of Americans:  “Why in the world would you vote for Trump?”

Before we begin, google the term “JournoList” and the name “Jonathan Gruber.”  I’ll wait.

Quickly, you’ll discover that JournoList was a private email list made up of a number of writers and reporters for major news organizations in the United States.  In 2008, this private email list of the people who craft and create the news presented to Americans declared themselves the “unofficial Barack Obama election committee.”  They were preplanning smears of critics of the glory that would be the First Black President of the US, all the while claiming to be objective journalists whose only interest was the (uppercase “T”) Truth.  Note that many of these propagandists are still employed by major news organizations, which commonsense and Wikileaks tells you all you need to know about the eager collusion between the Press and one political party that is so (D)ear to their hearts.

Jon Gruber was an MIT economist caught on tape repeatedly sharing the strategy of lies and obfuscation that he and the Obama White House exquisitely crafted to help sell ObamaCare to a credulous public (no doubt helped along by the unofficial “Ain’t Obama Great Club” of dependable #JournoListers).  Curiously, when testifying before Congress, he had a most convenient memory lapse, which somehow escaped deeper scrutiny by the Fourth Estate.

And the fact that even savvy, intelligent Europeans (like the Swiss journalist who originally interviewed me) haven’t heard about either of these deceptive groups and individuals might begin to give you a clue as to “Why Trump?”

The fact that Liberal and Progressive Americans might know about them and don’t give a damn is an even more obvious hint.

You see, my European friends, many Americans are on to the fact they have been lied to. Repeatedly and deliberately misled.   And then these folks, most of whom are reasonable people, are told they’re crazy when they complain about the tissue of lies.

They have seen how a stupid statement uttered by any unimportant Republican anywhere (say on “rape” or “abortion”) is instantly broadcast for days on end and declared to be a verifiable Blanket Statement of Belief for All Conservatives for All Time, while similarly stupid statements  by Democrat politicians are completely ignored or elided.

A lot of Americans have noticed that the only Black Lives That Matter are those that can be blamed on the System or the Police, while the vast majority of black victims of murder (82% – 90% of them, depending on your data source) who are killed by other blacks Don’t Matter At All.

A number of Americans have been struck by the vigor with which our newspapers of record (New York Times and Washington Post) hunted for something terrible to say about Mitt Romney––an authentically decent human being who has done a myriad of charitable works well out of the public eye––and how the Recorders were forced to find a third-hand story suggesting that a teen-aged Romney maybe gave an undesired haircut to a classmate half a century before.  Meanwhile, Americans know that many, many well-sourced tales are available about Hillary Clinton’s abominable verbal abuse toward those she considers her inferiors, but those stories are not front page news for weeks at a time, nor do the Kool Kidz Komedians like Jon Stewart hammer the story on cable night after night so the wanna-be Kool Kidz know what attitude is righteous and hip.

The examples could go on and on.   How unfettered access to abortion (a “right” which is addressed nowhere in the US Constitution) is defended by Liberals to the metaphoric death, while those same choice-loving Liberals insist that explicit rights contained in the Constitution––such as “the right to keep and bear arms”––must be subject to their common-sense restrictions.   Or compare the treatment of Sarah Palin’s hacked emails (“crowdsourcing,” anyone?) and the studious downplaying of the WikiLeaks trove of Hillary Clinton, Inc., emails by the New York/Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post.  To say nothing of the vile language directed at conservative women by good liberal “comedians,”using vocabulary that would cause a spate of panty-wetting editorials and spawn a legion of ardent protests if aimed at liberal womyn.

Americans, contrary to the judgement of our betters in New York City, Washington DC, and Los Angeles, aren’t stupid.

And they finally said “Bullshit” to the lies.

They declared “Bullshit” to one legal standard for the anointed (like Hillary Clinton) and another set of laws for those with less impressive political standing.

They called “Bullshit” to one journalistic standard for anyone identified as an Enemy of The Correct People, and a slavishly obsequious tongue-bath standard of covering up for and protecting The Correct People.

They know it’s “Bullshit” to hear, when politically convenient, that “dissent is the highest form of patriotism,” and yet find themselves called racist, sexist (or whatever the ist du jour is) for merely questioning the policies or direction of the country.

They clearly identify as “Bullshit” the notion there is a “War on Women,” especially when told that by the same group of cheerleaders who happily overlook the history of Hillary Clinton’s husband as an accused rapist, sexual harasser and predator…a fellow who just so happened to give the 2012 Democrat Convention speech nominating Barack Obama.

Americans wanted an Arthur, a noble leader with a fairly pure heart, to stand  against the many forces of darkness that have propped up and glamorized a corrupt, incompetent, and incontinent Hillary Morgana le Fey Clinton for decades.

Instead, we got Mordred, who comes from a sketchy, politically incestuous background.  Sure, he’s loud, brash, and vulgar enough to point out that if major American Media––both the “news” part and the “entertainment” part––isn’t in bed with Hillary, they’re damn sure making her coffee every morning and singing her to sleep every night.  However, Mordred Donald says he’s ready to tear down their castles, to level the playing field.

Sir Mordred, H J Ford. so emo.:

A lot of conservative Americans wanted someone else.  But you know what?  He’s the candidate we got.

So, while the question is “Why Trump?” the answer isn’t merely “Absolutely Anybody but Hillary.”  The full answer is this: “The hell with her and the palace eunuchs who have lied about her––and about us––for decades.”

That is why Trump.

(Note:  this post was written at the request of the German news outfit Tages Anzeiger which had interviewed me as their token “conservative novelist” before the first debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.  They wanted an Op-Ed written the day after the election, on a subject of my choice.  I actually completed this piece the morning of the election and sent it off with the subject line “Win, lose, or come the revolution.”  They ended up not publishing it <they might have been hoping for “Why Trump Lost”>so I’m posting it here)

      1. My dear son is currently incarcerated in Texas (this is what can happen when children decided their parents don’t know anything–fortunately, he realizes this–now). At any rate, he was telling me Wednesday “You’d be surprised how many people in my unit were for Trump”. Seems that even folks serving time in this Texas prison even saw the BS for what it was in the media. I am printing and sending him your article.

First, Ms. Bishop, you and your family are in my prayers. The University of Hard Knocks can have some damn pricey tuition…I’m glad it sounds like your son is now willing to be educated. Very interesting that even people who are imprisoned looked at the candidates and realized that Trump was a superior choice.

Thank you very much for reading my post. I hope you’ll come back and take a look at my novels, too.

I wish you and your son all the best.

  1. The liberal elites and the media all chipped in to derail the candidacies of every other choice; picking Donald Trump as the one most likely to be defeated by Hillary.
    So, they got their wish.
Too bad Donald didn’t play along. As a famous military strategist once opined: No battle plan survives contact with the enemy

Agreed. Wikileaks (you know, the folks who were doing God’s work when they were embarrassing a Republican Administration, and only became “who are these evil destroyers” when they dished the dirt on a Sainted Democrat) has a bit to tell us about how the Clinton campaign maneuvered to get Trump as the nominee. My own personal theory is that #JournoList (which has never gone away) did their best by making sure that Trump got the majority of the airtime…for exactly the same reason.

The best planned lays of mice and men….

  2. I got pretty much the same question from my very diverse Facebook friends, many who could not understand the Trump phenom, or why I thought his electorate was 100% legitimate, not racists, not sexist, just fed up. My take was a bit different, but also pertinent I believe.
    Here’s my screed:
The wife and I traveled the US this summer and I believe we hit at least 25 of the States. Outside of DC, NJ and Mass; I don’t think we saw one Hillary sign, but we saw thousands and thousands of Trump signs. Even the rural areas of NY and Mass., both Bluest of Blue states, were covered with Trump signs. I am not surprised at all that he won. Those of you who live in urban areas and listen, read or watch media originated in the DC or NYC bubbles were sadly deceived. If you had a look at the US we had, you too would not be surprised to see a Trump victory. The views we had from our motorhome of hundreds of closed factories, thousands of abandoned houses and countless boarded up main streets stretching from S. Carolina throughout our East coast, Northeast and Mid West swing was sad beyond words. It foretold of this hope for change, and the proof that these communities were traded for riches on Wall St. and into the pockets of a few, enabled by DC. That Trump tapped into this and won these parts of the country convincingly, is again, no surprise to me, If you don’t want to go down this road again, it behooves you to show real care for these lost parts of America, and regardless of your party do your best to help your fellow Americans before you concern yourself with the vast, and mostly unsolvable problems across the globe. My two cents, your mileage may vary.

  3. Wow! Well said… there have been so many “lies” like Gruber, Hilary to Benghazi victims loved ones, on and on and the press … they all morph into a level of disgust I can’t even express. I’m numb by it. Thank you for articulating why Trump!

  4. I’m an American living in Toronto–a nearby very simiar country living in the shadow of the U.S. and what they don’t know continues to amaze me. I find it easily believable that a “sophisticated” European wouldn’t know about what is at least somewhat inside baseball. Canadians, with far more incentive and more direct exposure barely know what a president is and have no clue about his powers and the limits thereof.

  5. The following is self explanatory. I live in Florida and have a number of relatives and “friends” who no longer communicate with me because of my conservative views.

The electorate has, in its plurality, decided to live in Trump’s world of vanity, hate, arrogance, untruth, and recklessness.

Craig I forgot to mention that (ex very close relative} owes me some money based on the outcome. The scummy draft dodgers from the Vietnam war slithered into Canada and poisoned Canadian youth which led to the installation of that pathetic piece of shit we have as prime minister. My only problem with Trump is that he will turn the country around and the value of the US dollar will surge and the politically correct Canadian Dollar will plunge. Common sense isn’t so common anymore. When feelings become more important than logic, we are doomed. Take it to the bank.Oh, and did I say,” Hahaha!”

(Very close relative) I don’t know you anymore. You can keep you alcohol fueled hate invective to yourself. You Are no longer a Canadian. Goodbye.

Responses like that one (one which I’ve experienced and I’m sure many conservative Americans have also encountered) lead me to believe that a lot of folks on the Left treat their politics as their religion…and a fundamentalist one, at that. Question the One True Faith, and you’re not just wrong, you’re evil.

  6. I daresay your article will NOT be published. It contains none of the memes European press adheres to nor is it explicitly derogatory of Americans in general.

    Otoh, I enjoyed it..lol

  7. What has really become clear, is that the U.S. does not have a functioning two party system. The republican(lower case) party cannot, or will not, wage 21st century political war on their actual opponents. The unholy alliance between media, education, bureaucratic and financial establishments must be destroyed. This is truly the Axis of Evil.

  8. Excellent piece, thank you for your insight. I have noticed and have had it *up to here* with the deceit, corruption and hypocrisy. I am furious at the entire media establishment (news, entertainment, etc.) which CONSTANTLY derides conservatives, while slavishly praising Statists (liberal is a misnomer) and their Globalist agenda.

We do *not* currently have a two party system. We have controlled opposition under an oligarchy. I was truly surprised by Trump’s win. I wonder what the numbers would be if the fraudulent votes could be discounted. I would love to see the voting system changed to one in which cheating could be eliminated, or at very least, greatly reduced. Trump will be in a position to make real change for the better, and I certainly hope he can. If only the millions of Statists in the US could see what is really going on.

    1. Roy "Griff" Griffis

Your lips. God’s ears. I was voting against Hillary and the corruption behind her, much more than I was voting for Trump. I even referred to him as a buffoon in the interview I did with the Swiss journalists I suspected were the KGB in disguise.

But, yes…now that you mention it, I’m gonna have to post my interview with the Swiss Newspaper (not German, as I thought). Looks like I have some more work to do today.

  9. And the answer to “why Mordred instead of Arthur” is that any other candidate was still trying to play nice-ish and afraid of being called bad names. Mordred got called bad names and laughed.

  10. Excellent, outstanding article that captured my own political thought processes for 2016 better than I could have done myself! Thank you.
