SCUMMY SCAMMERS

I’ve just been made aware some scammers operating under the name of “Amazon Kindle Network” are touting their alleged and entirely fictional market services on my behalf.

I have nothing to do with these mendacious scum, and any use of my name or book titles is completely fraudulent, as are any claims of them assisting me in any way.  I wish these d-bags were closer at hand so I might have a personal chat with them.

I do recommend any  writer who is approached regarding “services” or ghost-writing or “help publishing” first refer to the excellent “Writer’s Beware Blog” to research the vendor or agent or provider, (whatever term they use to peddle their services).

Second, there are fine Facebook …

Taking The Good With The Inconvenient

Full disclosure…I’m writing this kind of doped up (so the content may get illogical).

Two weeks ago, I threw my back out emptying a tiny bathroom trashcan.  I tried to gut it out, but the next morning, when I could scarcely walk more than five steps without holding onto the wall and then dropping to my knees in pain, Goodwife took me to the ER.  An Xray didn’t show much but some suspicious compression low in my back, and then sent me away with a shot of morphine and another of tramadol, along with a referral to a spine specialist.

I use the VA for medical, so everything has to go through their system.  Yesterday, I finally got an MRI, …

Review o’ Rama!

Man, I am behind on this one. Been fighting some family health issues (like the rest of us, right?), which means writing has slowed, the chickens are feeling lonely (they are really charming creatures), and the to-do list gets longer every day. Oh, yeah, we rescued a dog, too. A sweet boxer that was being neglected. But Moses –he was found and rescued, as it were–is doing great, getting regular meals and lots of affection and reassurance.

When he looks less emaciated, I’ll get some photos posted of him.

Meanwhile, I wanted to share some of the nifty reviews the audio books are getting:

Intrigued (5 stars)

What a delightful journey! Narg is the most endearing alien you’ll ever meet.

New Vistas to Cover

Just wanted to let y’all know…I have two books in Audio format now!  I’ll start with the rollicking first novel in the “Cthulhu, Amalgamated” series, the one that plays fast and loose with Lovecraft.  Includes bonus laughs along with the expected chills (your soul cheerfully returned if you’re not amused).  The story is brought to “life” (as we understand it) by a very talented English performer, Magnus Carlssen.

Available direct from me by clicking on the cover below, or at most of your favorite audiobook-sellers, like Kobo, Google, NOOK, Chirp, etc.  Coming soon to Audible, I swear.

You can listen to a sample of Magnus’ delightful reading  below:

For those of a more serious mind,, the beginning

A nice review for The Breakroom of a Thousand Nightmares from the good chaps over at Upstream Reviews.

“In Roy Griffis’ wonderfully crafted world set in the inner workings of the cosmic bureaucracy that deals with all things Not Meant To Be Known, our hero-shoggoth Narg’Lah is finding things changing around his corner of the dimension. Demons have begun sharing company space, in addition to the standard many-eyed, many-tentacled Lovecraftian sort; Narg finds himself fending off accusations from co-workers that all his time among the Poo Flingers has made him soft; but worst of all, he returns to his office to find everything being moved and his beloved secretary Bugg being reassigned. Our boy is movin’ on up, as

The Breakroom of a Thousand Nightmares LIVES

…and I certainly hope it’s not your worst nightmare, but one of the better ones.

The story goes thusly:

Just back from another thrilling adventure down among the Hairless Apes, our every-Thing hero Narg faces the most terrifying corporate challenge yet:  a promotion!  Reporting directly to The Blithering Excrescence From Beyond The Stars (aka, his Uncle Beefbits), he and Murph find themselves getting down with the Humans again. But what do G-men, CERN, and small grey aliens have to do with the Amalgamation? Discover the truth in The Breakroom of a Thousand Nightmares, Book Three of the Escapade Fantastique that is the Cthulhu, Amalgamated series.

A Bundle o’ Story Fun

I’m taking part in a cool little exercise called a story bundle.  As you can tell from some of the covers, the focus is on Humorous Fantasy (like, oh, I dunno, The Thing From HRby your humble correspondent).

StoryBundle was created to give a platform for independent authors to showcase their work, and a source of quality titles for thirsty readers. StoryBundle works with authors to create bundles of ebooks that can be purchased by readers at their desired price.  (For StoryBundle, you decide what price you want to pay. For $5 -or more, if you’re feeling generous-, you’ll get the basic bundle of four books in any ebook format—WORLDWIDE).

Find myself in a peculiar position

I’m finishing up book three of Cthulhu, Amalgamated (The Breakroom of a Thousand Nightmares) and it might be one of the better books I’ve ever put my name on.

Here’s one of the original manuscript pages from the source material, by the way:

Even as I’m prepping that story for publication, I find myself wondering what I’ll write next.  I don’t lack for ideas.  By the Hands of Men Book Seven (working title: Taking the King’s Coinis out there, as well as the final volume of the soon-to-be reissued Lonesome George Chronicles (tentatively The Terrible Swift Sword).  To say nothing of at least two other book series that have taken up residence in the creative countryside …
